Can my financial contribution be tax deductible?
Yes. Yes. Yes. All donations are exempt from tax under Section 80(G) of Income Tax Act 1961 Vide No. Cit (Exempt)/MN/80-G/3075/2006.

What are your sources of funding?
The Make-A-Wish® Foundation of India finances its work through individual contributions, corporate donations, foundation grants and in-kind donations. Local chapters are funded in much the same way and also rely on special events and in-kind donations. Make-A-Wish® Foundation of India maintains complete transparency in all areas of financial management and its financial statements are audited.

What are the most requested wishes?
Most wish requests fall into four major categories:  I wish to go
Some Make-A-Wish® Foundation kids want to travel to a theme park, while others want to visit an exotic beach, see snow for the first time or visit a famous destination like the Taj Mahal. As a policy decision the Make-A-Wish® Foundation of India does not grant any overseas travel wishes. I wish to be
Children search the depths of their imagination when they wish to be someone for a day – a doctor, a police officer, or a performing singer, for instance. I wish to meet
Many want to meet their favorite cricketer, television personality, movie star or public figure. I wish to have
Children often wish for a special gift, like a computer, new clothes, a musical instrument, or something that they have coveted for a long time.

Does the wish family have to meet income qualifications before a child can receive a wish?
No. Family income is not a consideration in determining whether a child is eligible to receive a wish.

Does the family have to pay for the wish?
No. All wish expenses are fully covered, including all travel and spending money when appropriate. The Make-A-Wish® Foundation's objective is to create a memorable wish experience for both the child and family that are not clouded by financial concerns

Are there any restrictions on a wish?
Make-A-Wish® Foundation of India follows specific policies and guidelines for granting a child's wish. The physician also plays a major role in determining whether the child's condition will permit a particular wish to be coordinated safely. Foundation staff works closely with the wish child's physician to determine the most appropriate time to grant the wish, keeping in mind the child's treatment protocol or other concerns.

Does a child's condition have to be terminal to qualify for a wish?
No. Many of the children who qualify for a wish go on to lead healthy and happy lives.

Who can refer a child?
The Make-A-Wish® Foundation accepts referrals for potential wish children from: Parents, Guardians of the child, Medical professionals, children themselves or child's family and friends.

Who can be a wish child?
The mission of the Make-A-Wish® Foundation is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. Children who are at least 3 years of age, but have not yet reached their 18th Birthday must be referred to the Foundation and determined to be medically eligible for a wish by their physician. The child's treating physician makes the final determination of whether a child's medical condition qualifies him or her for a wish. The Foundation takes into consideration all factors as they relate to the wish and the wish child, and then plans the wish accordingly.

Is Make-A-Wish® Foundation eligible to receive foreign donations?
Yes Make-A-Wish® Foundation is eligible to receive foreign donations. We have a valid FCRA registration.

How do I get the list?
A pending wish list is generated periodically by every division and is available on request.

How can one garner support to the cause?
One can garner support in the following way : Becoming a volunteer, Adopt wishes, Sponsorships in Cash/ In Kind from Corporate / Individuals, Referrals – Referring a child, help in arranging fundraising events, create awareness, buy our merhandise.

How did the foundation start in India ?
The Foundation was started by Mr.Uday Joshi who is the Founder and the Managing Trustee also happens to be a wish parent, his son ‘Gandhar's wish was granted in USA when he was being treated for his illness. This unforgettable experience prompted him to start Indian affiliate of Make A Wish® Foundation.
